Bio – Sheriff David Criner

Sheriff David Criner is an experienced law enforcement professional who has proudly served the people of Texas for almost 40 years. He was sworn in as Midland County Sheriff on April 01, 2020 and is committed to leading an office defined by its integrity and professionalism.

Prior to running for Sheriff, Criner served the citizens of Midland County for seven years as Constable for Precinct 1. He previously served with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) for 26 years and began his law enforcement career as a Deputy Sheriff in Midland County.
Sheriff Criner has over 5,000 hours of law enforcement training and holds a Master Peace Officer Certificate, an Instructor Proficiency Certificate and is a Licensed Polygraph Examiner. He has been a Licensed Peace Officer since 1981 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas Permian Basin.
David Criner and his wife Judy have been married for 38 years and are members of Fannin Terrace Baptist Church.
